Our Junior University aims to support school aged students from Primary age to year 13 to enthuse them about their future and the impact of education on them. We aim to increase aspirations and inspire them to consider Higher Education. Our activities are designed to improve self esteem, motivation and confidence in all participants as well as to have fun. Accrington and Rossendale College are working with Wonderful Things so children can take part in education based activities within a College environment. So far, children have built and set off their own rockets and made slime in Biology, Chemistry and Physics master classes and will shortly be TV Crew to film their own news programme. We are looking forward to working on other activities with St Mary's CE Primary in the near future. |

Ripplehead Ices of Blackburn were pleased to be involved in the Wonderful Things Project, supplying
an ice cream van every afternoon for the children to all have an ice cream paid for by the project (at a reduced price)… any flavour and style. The delight on the children's faces when we pulled onto the playground was a pleasure to see!
We would be delighted to attend next year or attend any other schools requiring an ice cream van for summer fairs, sports days or just as an end of term treat for the pupils.

I produce school newspapers all over Rossendale, Burnley and Manchester and I was delighted to be invited to work with the children attending the Week of Wonderful Things.
I put together a special newspaper workshop for children in the morning and sent them away with tasks to be completed. I returned mid-week to ensure the reporters had their stories written and typed. The finished product was one I hope they were all proud of. It was distributed to parents and presented an overview of a very exciting week of activities and provided a keepsake for all attendees.
